The cheese snack “Cheetos”, which was released by Frito-Lay in 1953 and is loved by everyone, is a well-known brand in Japan. It’s so delicious that you can’t help but lick the powder on your fingers.

Fritos originator Charles Elmer Doolin invented Cheetos in 1948, cooking early test batches in the Frito Company’s research and development kitchen in Dallas, Texas. Doolin lacked the production and distribution capabilities to enable a nationwide launch of the cheese-flavored snack. Cheetos, along with a potato product named Fritatos, were released nationwide in the United States in 1948, thanks to Doolin’s partnership with potato chip manufacturer Herman W. Lay for marketing and distribution. Due to the popularity of Cheetos, Doolin and Lay decided to merge their businesses in 1961, becoming Frito-Lay Inc. Cheetos was one of the company’s four major snack food brands at the time, with yearly revenues of $127 million.

Crunchy Cheetos were the first Cheetos product, created in 1948 in San Antonio, Texas. Crunchy Cheetos were the brand’s only product for 23 years, until Cheetos Puffs were introduced in 1971. Beginning in 2004, the baked variations, often known as Baked Cheetos, became available. Cheetos snacks are available in 21 different varieties in the United States as of 2010. In addition to the classic Crunchy Cheetos, Cheetos Puffs and Baked varieties are available in a variety of shapes and flavors, including Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, which are hot.

Ranch dressing, North Sea crab, smoked octopus, and caramel were passed over in favor of two flavors: Savory American Cream and Zesty Japanese Steak, which were tested extensively before being chosen for the Chinese market. These varieties were developed when focus group testing revealed that the original Crunchy Cheetos did not perform well. In 2008, Strawberry Cheetos, a simple corn Cheeto with strawberry frosting, were introduced in Japan. In Japan, a Pepsi-flavored Cheeto was debuted in 2013, followed by a Mountain Dew-flavored Cheeto in 2014. Cheetos Whoosh, a snack packed with whole grains and vegetables, is distributed in India.
